Janet Irvine is a Child and Family Project Officer at Settlement Services International (SSI). Janet has extensive experience working with newly arrived families from a refugee background as a counsellor, caseworker and educator with STARTTS and in the Northern Territory. Janet has developed a strong interest in developing culturally responsive practice in the child protection and out-of-home-care fields and has applied that for the last ten years working within Family and Community Services (FACS). During that time she was involved in policy and program development, the development of culturally responsive practice tools and training caseworkers in culturally responsive practice.
