Michael Dash is the coordinator of the Sydney Local Health District Bereavement Counselling Service comprising Balmain, RPA, Concord and Canterbury hospitals. He has worked as a bereavement counsellor since 2000, and was a member of the pain and palliative care team at the Children’s Hospital Westmead.

Michael has also been a bereavement counsellor at Sacred Heart and Calvary Palliative Care Services. He has worked in the area of HIV/AIDS and in the Community Sector with young people at risk as well as in Local Government. He was a teacher and school counsellor in Victoria.

Michael teaches mindfulness-based practices and has been a mindfulness practitioner for over 20 years, studying in Australia, Thailand and Burma. He co-facilitates a Buddhist mindfulness meditation group in Sydney and has taught mindfulness practice to a wide variety of groups and individuals, focussing on understanding and alleviating suffering and empowering participants to take an active role in the management of their health and wellbeing.
